I have definitely gone from thick to thin. My most startling moment was when I saw a commercial (after my gastric bypass and stunning weight loss!) of a fridge going to the recycling place. They talked about the fridge weighing in at 317 pounds. OMG! I was as big as a flippin' fridge! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not now though, but that still shook me to my core. I've lost 134 pounds at last weigh-in. I was in a wheelchair for 17 years (unrelated to my obesity) and now I'm not. I'm doing 5k walks, and next weekend, ratcheting it up to a 10k. I couldn't be happier. I just fit in to size 14's, after being in 24/26 for "weigh" too long. I haven't fit in a 14 since high school, 30 years ago! I'm kickin' butt and taking names later! People often make it like gastric bypass is cheating, but it is just as hard as doing it the old-fashioned way, and not everyone has that option. In the end, isn't what matters, the return to health? I'm no longer diabetic, don't have sleep apnea or fatty liver disease anymore, and I went from 8 medications down to 1. I'm as healthy as I was in my early 20's. So, here's to my surgeon, Dr. Ngocthuy Hughes, in Redmond OR. She helped get me my life back, and may well have saved it. I'm ready for grandkids now!
